Ivan Lapper RSMA

Ivan Lapper spent eight years studying at art school, firstly at Wolverhampton Collage of Art, then at the Royal College of Art, where he specialized in Illustration and Printmaking.

Ivan is considered to be one of the world's leading historical reconstruction artists, and his clients have included Historic Royal Palaces, English Heritage, CADW the National Trust as well as clients in America and Europe. He has lectured in Illustration and Life Drawing in many colleges on a part time basis, including St Martin's School of Art, Camberwell School of Art and the Ruskin School/ Oxford University.

His paintings have been in many exhibitions, and after winning the Charles Pears Memorial award for two years running at the annual Royal Society of Marine Artists show at the Mall Galleries, he was elected a full Member of the RSMA in 2010.

Ivan works in oils, in watercolour and line. Careful observation and detailed drawing from life, combined with good draughtsmanship form the basis of all Ivan's work.

His desire to convey atmosphere, to show the ever changing effect that reflections have on water, are his prime interest, and he hopes to convey this through his paintings.
