Bert Wright was born in 1930 and received his initial training at the Nottingham College of Art. His career started as an architectural assistant mainly producing architectural perspective paintings, a number of which were hung in the Royal Academy. He then embarked on a broader career as an illustrator and following a period managing a studio of illustrators he moved into television and became the General Manager of the Scenery Group at the BBC. Bert has for many years been a professional painter with a particular interest in marine, town and landscape subjects. Using both watercolours and oils Bert works outdoors in all seasons and most of his paintings are completed on site. He is President of the Royal Society of Marine Artists, member of the Wapping Group of Artists and the Chelsea Society, President of the Ealing Art Group and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. His work has been shown in National Exhibitions in London at the RA, RI, RWS, ROI, and RBA. He also exhibits his work throughout the UK and abroad including USA, Middle East and Far East. His work is listed in the book 20th Century Marine Painting and he has been a prize winner in the Sunday Times/Singer Friedlander International Watercolour Competition. His paintings are in private collections world wide and a number of international companies have commissioned his work.
