Born in Hull in 1951, Tim Thompson spent much of his early childhood living on the island of Herm in the Channel Islands. At the age of 10 he moved to Guernsey, where he later studied for a Diploma in Horticulture.
He married in 1973 and moved to Cornwall where he resides with his wife and two daughters.
Tim began a painting career in the late 1970's. He specialises in Marine Art from Drakes period through to the latest high-tech yachts and he loves all aspects of the sea and sailing. He enjoys working plenty of atmosphere into his paintings and always tries to achieve a dramatic effect.
He has exhibited widely including the UK, USA, Europe and Australia and has produced paintings for several books including "The Paintings of the Americas Cup" and "The Story of Yachting." Tim's paintings form part of collections throughout the world including The Royal Navy, Ted Turner, Sultanate of Oman, Bill Koch, Dennis Conner and The Royal Family of Norway amongst many others.
