Hugh Fairfax was born in 1958 and grew up on the Isle of Wight. He has spent much of his life living beside the sea and his work reflects the colours, textures and wildlife found there. Although he has instinctively drawn and painted from his very earliest years, he attended art school in Cambridge and more recently was a pupil of Albany Wiseman, the noted illustrator and watercolourist.
The last 18 months has seen a rapid development of his career with exhibitions in London, Aldeburgh, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, together with numerous commissions. His work has also been featured in the Times magazine and Harpers & Queen.
