Irene Ganser

"It all started during a vacation at the Costa Smeralda. I was captivated by the big sailing boats, their beauty and elegance - as I realised later, these boats were racing for the the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup, one of the most prestigious regattas in the Mediterranean Sea. Coming from a country with no seaside, but a lot of mountains instead, I knew well how to ski and had fun taking part in skiing competitions, but didn't have the opportunity to sail. Back then in Italy, I was lucky enough to get on the Press boat, accompanying the fleet, and the excitement of the race as well as the colourful and fascinating scenery of the sea has stayed in my head ever since."
